Established in 1926, the Mining Engineering discipline at Northeastern University pioneered China's first ferrous metal mining engineering program and stands as one of the nation's earliest mining engineering specialties. Designated as a national key discipline in 1987, it has been included in China's inaugural Project 985, Project 211, and Double First-Class Initiative.
