Chen Xi, associate professor and doctoral supervisor of Environmental Engineering. He joined the university as a faculty member in 2008 and obtained his Ph.D. from Northeastern University in 2016. From September 2023 to March 2025, he was seconded to the Administrative Center for China’s Agenda 21 under the National Natural Science Foundation of China. From April 2026 to April 2027, he is seconded to the Major Projects Division of the Department of Science and Technology Development, Ministry of Natural Resources. His main research areas include the resource utilization of mining solid waste, the preparation and application of targeted environmental remediation materials, and mine environmental restoration and governance.
He has led or participated in more than ten research projects, including national major science and technology projects, sub-projects of the National Key R&D Program of China, General Program projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, key cultivation projects for national defense research funded by the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities, central university research funds, the Natural Science Foundation of Liaoning Province, public welfare research funds of the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education, and various industry-sponsored projects. He has published over 50 academic papers, including more than 20 SCI-indexed papers as first author or corresponding author, and has been granted more than 10 invention patents. He has also served as associate editor for three textbooks, including Environmental Impact Assessment, Ecological Protection and Restoration, and Environmental Assessment Tutorial. His main teaching responsibilities include Principles of Environmental Engineering, Colloid and Surface Chemistry, Principles of Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Materials Science.
