Yongchun Zhou is an associate professor and doctoral supervisor of Environmental Engineering. She obtained Ph.D from Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences and served as a visiting scholar at the University of Tennessee, USA. She has undertaken one National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) project, sub-project under the National Key Research and Development Program of China, presided over one Doctoral Start-up Fund project issued by Liaoning Provincial Department of Science and Technology, two Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities projects and four industry-sponsored horizontal research projects, while also participating in major research initiatives such as general programs of NSFC and the National Key Research and Development Program of China. She was awarded the Second Prize of Liaoning Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Award and honored as Shenyang Young Top-Notch Talent.

Her primary research interests focus on biochar and greenhouse gas mitigation, global change ecology, stable isotope ecology, as well as soil pollution and remediation.She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers and co-authored four books. She serves as Executive Associate Editor of Climate Smart Agriculture and a Youth Editorial Board Member of Chinese Journal of Soil Science. In professional academic organizations, she holds the position of Standing Executive Director of the Grassland Resources and Utilization Committee under Chinese Grassland Society and serves as a member of the Science Popularization Working Committee of China Society of Natural Resources.
