His main research directions include biodegradation of plastics, environmental and ecological effects of micro/nanoplastics, and microbial resource recovery of organic wastes.
He serves as Editorial Board Member of the SCI journal Microorganisms, Youth Editorial Board Member of Eco-Environment & Health and Journal of Safety and Environment. He is also a member of the Youth Expert Committee of the Chinese Biogas Society & Youth Expert Committee on Chinese Anaerobic Biotechnology, as well as a member of the Waste Resource Utilization Committee of the Chinese Society of Natural Resources.
He has presided over more than 20 research projects including programs supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and sub-projects of the National Key R&D Program of China. He has published over 130 academic journal papers, among which more than 100 are SCI-indexed and 9 are EI-indexed. Fourteen patents have been granted, and four textbooks and monographs have been published.
