Li Chun received his Ph.D. degree and is currently an Associate Professor and Master's Supervisor at the Institute of Civil Engineering, Northeastern University, China. He was born in October 1971 in Qianshan, Anhui Province. In 2009, he was awarded a Chinese Government Scholarship to serve as a visiting scholar at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, and also undertook short-term academic study at the University of Cambridge. He currently serves as a council member of the Surveying Branch of the Liaoning Civil Engineering Society, an external expert for Vanke Dalian Real Estate Development Co., Ltd., and a Deputy Director (temporary appointment) of the Construction Bureau of Quanshan District, Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. His research interests focus on macro- and micro-scale porous media theory, underground engineering technology and applications, and practical design methods for building structures. He has independently completed or participated in more than 120 engineering research, design, and construction management projects. He has been involved in four national and provincial research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, served as the principal investigator of one Liaoning Provincial Natural Science Foundation project, and led eight industry-sponsored research projects. He has received four Outstanding Engineering Design Awards at the provincial and municipal levels and has published 42 academic papers, of which 10 have been indexed by EI and ISTP. He has also contributed to one monograph and one Liaoning provincial standard atlas. During his visit to the University of Birmingham, he collaborated with Professor Andrew H. C. Chan on the numerical solution and mechanical modeling of the dynamic behavior of layered saturated porous media, achieving significant preliminary research outcomes that established a solid theoretical foundation for his subsequent studies.
