Yunyun Fan, born in 1982, is an Associate Professor, Master’s Supervisor, and Doctoral Supervisor at Northeastern University. He graduated from Tsinghua University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Hydraulic Engineering, and received his Ph.D. in Hydraulic Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2010. He has been working at Northeastern University since 2010. His research interests include slope stability, dynamic processes of landslides and debris flows, hazard mitigation engineering, dynamic stability of tailings ponds, and dam break analysis. He has published over thirty journal papers. As the principal investigator, he has led one project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one Research Fund for General Science Project of Department of Education of Liaoning Province, two Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities of China, and two open funds from state key laboratories. He has also served as the principal investigator for more than ten industry funded projects on the dynamic stability of tailings ponds and dam break analysis. He has received a second prize award for technological invention from Liaoning Province, a first prize award for scientific and technological progress from the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and a second prize award for scientific and technological progress from the Ministry of Education. He has also been honored as Outstanding Teacher of Northeastern University, Outstanding Advisor of Northeastern University, and Outstanding Teacher for Student Science and Technology Innovation Activities.
