Yabing Zhang, Associate Professor. He received his Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from Simon Fraser University, Canada. His research interests include intelligent remote sensing monitoring of mining areas, mining geohazards, and numerical simulation of fractured rocks and seepage. He teaches two undergraduate courses — Mineral Deposit Geology and Hydrogeology, and English for Mining Engineering — and one graduate course on Fundamentals of Rock Mechanics, and oversees international field training for undergraduate students. He has undertaken the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Doctoral Initiation Program of Liaoning Province, and several industry-funded projects, and has also participated in three General Programs and one Key Project funded by the NSFC. He has published several technical papers, including 10 peer-reviewed journal papers, and served as associate editor of the textbook Hydrogeology for Deep Metal Mines.
