
Xige Liu, Associate Professor, Department of Mining Engineering, Northeastern University. His research focuses on the mechanisms of mine dynamic disasters and technologies for early warning and prevention. Starting from the shear mechanical behavior and instability mechanisms of rock discontinuities, Dr. Liu has achieved multiple innovative results in roughness characterization and reverse reconstruction methods of rock discontinuities, nonlinear inversion of in-situ stress, and refined modeling of rock mass structures. He has served as Principal Investigator (PI) for five government-funded scientific research projects, with total funding exceeding RMB 2 million. He has published more than 60 papers and been granted ten invention patents. He has received four first prizes of provincial/ministerial-level scientific research awards, one second prize of the Natural Science Award, and one second prize of the Teaching Achievement Award. In 2025, he was honored with the National Excellent Young Scientific and Technological Talent Award in the Field of Mining, Petroleum, and Safety Engineering. As associate editor-in-chief, he co-compiled the textbook Applied Rock Mechanics (Metallurgical Industry Press), selected as a 14th Five-Year Plan textbook for general higher education. He serves as a council member and deputy secretary-general of the Division of Cold Region Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering, Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and is a youth editorial board member of Deep Resources Engineering and Metal Mine.
