
Penghai Zhang, Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor. His research centers on rock mass failure and the monitoring and prediction of induced geological disasters. He has developed rock damage characterization methods using acoustic emission and microseismic data, revealed multi-field coupling effects and instability mechanisms under water immersion and freeze-thaw conditions, established a landslide early warning system and cloud platform, and devised a series of experimental apparatus. His work has been applied in multiple mines.
He has received two second prizes of the Liaoning Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and one first prize and two second prizes from the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering. He has led over 20 projects, including those from the National Key R&D Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and enterprises. He has published over 30 papers as first or corresponding author, authored one monograph, holds over 20 invention patents, and achieved RMB 750,000 in patent commercialization.
