Qinglei Yu, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and Vice Dean of the School of Resources and Civil Engineering, Northeastern University. His research primarily focuses on the failure and instability control of mining rock masses, energy saving and consumption reduction in mineral resource extraction, and intelligent technologies. The outcomes of his research have been applied to address engineering problems such as mine water inrush and sudden collapse, goaf treatment and pillar recovery, and support optimization for skarn roadways, achieving significant economic and social benefits. He was a visiting scholar at Monash University, Australia.

He has led five projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and undertaken over 20 research projects from provincial governments and mining industries. He has received three first prizes and eight second prizes for provincial/ministerial scientific and technological progress awards. He holds 15 invention patents and 2 software copyrights, and has published over 70 papers in domestic and international journals and authored the textbook Elasticity and Fundamentals of Finite Element Method. He is a member of the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM), a standing committee member of the 8th Mining Academic Committee of the China Nonferrous Metals Society, a deputy director of the Youth Technical Committee of the Green Mining Industry Alliance, and a young expert of the Green Mining Industry Alliance Think Tank. He was a member of the 8th Council of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineeringand served as Secretary-General of the Cold Region Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering Branch.
