Sun Baoliang, born in December 1970, is a Lecturer in the Department of Geology, School of Resources and Civil Engineering, Northeastern University. He received his B.Sc. in Mineral Prospecting and Exploration from the Mining Department of Northeast Institute of Technology (1988–1992) and his M.Sc. in Mineral Prospecting and Exploration from Northeastern University (1996–1999).
His research interests include sedimentary facies and depositional environments, hydrogeology, and metallogenic regularities and mineral resource prediction. His work focuses on understanding geological processes and applying geological knowledge to resource evaluation and exploration.
He teaches a range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including Environmental Geology, Lithofacies Paleogeography, Geological Fieldwork, Mathematical Geology, and Principles and Methods of Lithofacies Paleogeography. He is actively involved in field-based geological education and professional training.
He has participated in several research projects, including a National Natural Science Foundation of China project led by Professor Enpu Gong on Late Carboniferous reef communities and marine ecosystems in GuangxiProvince. As first author, he has published eight papers in leading Chinese scientific journals.
