Dr. Dou is an Associate Professor in the School of Resources and Civil Engineering at Northeastern University. His research focuses on magmatic–hydrothermal processes and associated ore deposits in granitic systems, with particular emphasis on applying mineral texture analysis to reconstruct magmatic and hydrothermal evolution, elucidate the migration and enrichment mechanisms of critical metals, and advance mineral exploration and ore beneficiation.
He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Science and Technology of China. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Since 2021, Dr.Dou has served as Principal Investigator on several competitive research projects, including a National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) project investigating the timescales of magma mixing and a China Postdoctoral Science Foundation project on plagioclase populations. He has also participated as a key researcher in a Guangdong Major Project on rare-earth resources and environmental risks and an NSFC project on the tectonic evolution and mineralization of the Qinling Orogen.
His research has been published in leading international journals, including Journal of Petrology, Mineralium Deposita, Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, Lithosetc.
