Gao Rongzhen is an Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in the School of Resources and Civil Engineering at Northeastern University. Dr. Gao received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and earned his Ph.D. from China University of Geosciences (Beijing) in 2018. He subsequently completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and a six-month visiting postdoctoral appointment at the University of Regina, Canada.
He currently serves as Deputy Director of the Committee on Fundamental Geology and Mineral Exploration of the Liaoning Geological Society, Young Editorial Board Member of China Geology and Mineral Exploration, and has been recognized as an Outstanding Talent of Shenyang. He received the Outstanding Instructor Award at the 7th National College Students’ Geological Skills Competition and the Second Prize in the National Young Geology Teachers’ Teaching Competition.
Dr. Gao's research focuses on the genesis and exploration of low-temperature hydrothermal ore deposits. His work integrates geological and geochemical approaches to investigate the ore-forming processes of sediment-hosted base-metal deposits, sandstone-hosted uranium deposits, and epithermal gold deposits, with the goal of advancing metallogenic theory and mineral exploration.
He has served as Principal Investigator for eight research projects, including grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Youth Program), the Liaoning Provincial Natural Science Foundation, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities. He has also participated in several major national and provincial research programs, including the Xinjiang Key Research and Development Program on Early Permian gold and nickel mineralization and prospecting evaluation, the National Science and Technology Support Program on metallogenic environments and ore-forming processes in the Western Tianshan region, and the National Key R&D Program on the spatiotemporal architecture and metallogenic processes of porphyry mineral systems.
To date, Dr. Gao has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers in leading international and domestic journals, including Ore Geology Reviews, Geological Journal, Journal of Asian Earth Sciences, and Mineral Deposits.
