Xinran Zhu holds a Doctor of Engineering and works as Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Resources and Civil Engineering, Northeastern University. His research concentrates on the development and utilization of refractory minerals via gravity separation, magnetic separation, flotation and combined beneficiation-hydrometallurgy routes. His past work centers on precise phase transformation regulation during fluidized magnetization roasting of complex iron ores (hematite, limonite, siderite) with characterizations of XRD, Mössbauer spectroscopy and VSM. His recent research focuses on roasting pretreatment for vanadium, gold and lithium extraction from raw ores.


He has presided over NSFC projects, subprojects of the National Key R&D Program and Deep-Earth Exploration National Major S&T Project. He has published over 20 SCI papers and won the Second-Class Liaoning Provincial Natural Science Award. He is a Youth Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Mining Science and Technology and Minerals.
