Sikai Zhao is an Associate Professor at Northeastern University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Mineral Processing Engineering from Northeastern University in January 2022. From December 2019 to December 2020, he received joint doctoral training at the University of California, Berkeley.
His research focuses on mineral materials and the safe and efficient utilization of mineral resources. His work covers mineral processing, mineral materials, gas sensing, and catalysis, with an emphasis on the environmental governance of mine wastes, including gas, liquid, and solid pollutant monitoring, wastewater recycling, and high-value reutilization of solid residues.
Professor Zhao has led one project supported by the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities, and has participated in several high-level research projects, including the National Key R&D Program of China, the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars, projects supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation, and enterprise-sponsored projects from TDK InvenSense. He serves as a Review Editor for Frontiers in Materials – Ceramics and Glass and as a reviewer for SCI-indexed journals including Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, Journal of Materials Science, and Membranes.
He has published more than 40 academic papers in domestic and international journals, including over 30 SCI-indexed papers and more than ten papers as first or corresponding author. His publications include two ESI Highly Cited Papers, with an H-index of 14. He has filed or obtained 14 invention patents, 11 of which have been granted.
