Lixia Li is a Professor, Ph.D. Supervisor, and Postdoctoral Co-supervisor at Northeastern University. She received her B.Eng., M.Eng., and Ph.D. degrees in Mineral Processing Engineering from Northeastern University in 2003, 2006, and 2008, respectively. From 2016 to 2018, she worked as a CSC-sponsored Visiting Scholar at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
Professor Li serves as Director of the Liaoning Provincial Engineering Research Center for Efficient Ore Comminution and Director of the Liaoning Provincial Technology Innovation Center for Magnetic Separation Equipment. She is also a member of several academic and technical expert committees, including the International Mineral Processing Forum, the Chinese Metallurgical Mining Industry, and the Chinese Vacuum Society. She serves as an Editorial Board Member of Minerals Engineering and Metal Mine.
Her research focuses on ore comminution, sensor-based sorting, and advanced separation technologies for complex refractory metallic ores and deep-space resources. She has served as Principal Investigator for four National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, three National Key R&D Program sub-projects, 12 provincial and ministerial research projects, and 41 industry-sponsored research projects.
Professor Li has been granted 21 Chinese invention patents, one U.S. patent, and four registered software copyrights. Four of her research achievements have been evaluated as internationally leading, and eight have received First- or Second-Class Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards. She has authored six academic monographs, published 81 SCI-indexed papers and 49 papers in leading Chinese core journals, and maintained long-term international collaborations with institutions in Canada, the United States, Brazil, Turkey, and Mongolia.
