Yongsheng Sun is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars. He has also received several major academic honors, including Leading Scientific and Technological Talent of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Young Scientist of the National Key R&D Program of China, the Fok Ying Tung Young Teachers Foundation Award, and Young Top Talent under Liaoning Province’s Xingliao Talents Program.
He currently serves as Director of the Department of Mineral Engineering and Director of the Liaoning Provincial Key Laboratory of Mineral Processing Technology. His research focuses on mineral reconstruction-enhanced separation, clean and efficient utilization of mineral resources, and AI-driven design of flotation reagents. He has developed a series of original technologies, represented by phase transformation and short-process high-efficiency separation technologies, which have been successfully applied in mining enterprises and projects including Ansteel Group, Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group, and projects in Zambia, generating significant economic and social benefits.
Professor Sun has published more than 100 high-quality academic papers, been granted over 40 national invention patents, and authored two monographs supported by the National Publishing Fund of China. He has received six national and provincial-ministerial-level science and technology awards, as well as one Special Prize and two First Prizes of Liaoning Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards. He has also led the formulation of seven industry and association standards, several of which have been selected as typical industrial application cases by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
