Yanjun Li received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. degrees in Mineral Processing Engineering from Northeastern University. He is currently a Professor at the School of Resources and Civil Engineering, Northeastern University. He has been recognized as a New Century Excellent Talent and a Xingliao Talent of Liaoning Province.

His research focuses on the clean and efficient utilization of complex refractory mineral resources, with emphasis on iron ore beneficiation and pre-treatment of refractory ores. He has made significant contributions to step-dispersion synergistic flotation and coarse-particle wet high-intensity magnetic pre-concentration, for which he received the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the First Prize of the Liaoning Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.

Professor Li has developed key technologies and supporting equipment for suspension magnetic roasting and hydrogen-based mineral phase transformation. As the principal investigator of a National Key R&D Program project, he led the construction of a million-ton-scale industrial demonstration project. These achievements were recognized with the First Prize of the Ministry of Education Technical Invention Award and the First Prize of the Liaoning Provincial Technical Invention Award.

He has also promoted the integration of industry and education by establishing the Liaoning NEU Pilot-scale Base for Mining and Metallurgy, a provincial-level platform for scientific and technological achievement transformation. The platform has generated more than RMB 70 million in technology transfer revenue. His technologies have been applied in several industrial enterprises, supporting the construction or operation of six production lines and generating substantial economic benefits.

Professor Li has led a National Key R&D Program project, a General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and more than 20 enterprise-sponsored collaborative research projects, with total research funding of RMB 20 million. He has published 13 high-level academic papers as first or corresponding author, including five SCI-indexed papers.
