
Yuexin Han received his Ph.D. degree and is currently a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Northeastern University. He serves as Director of the National–Local Joint Engineering Research Centre for Efficient Development and Utilization Technology of Hard-to-Mine-and-Process Iron Ore Resources. He previously held several academic and administrative positions, including Dean of the School of Resources and Civil Engineering, Northeastern University.
His research focuses on the efficient development and utilization of complex and refractory mineral resources, safe disposal and high-value utilization of solid wastes, and the preparation of high-performance mineral materials. He developed staged flotation technology for Anshan-type carbonate-bearing iron ores and established a demonstration project with an annual processing capacity of 3 million tons, providing an effective technical route for the utilization of carbonate-bearing iron ores. He also proposed a pre-concentration–suspension magnetic roasting–magnetic separation process, which has been applied in an industrial production line with an annual output of 1.65 million tons at Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group. The technology has increased metal recovery by 15 percentage points and is expected to enable the utilization of more than 10 billion tons of refractory iron ore resources, generating significant economic and social benefits. In addition, his technologies for calcium sulfate whiskers and nano-calcium carbonate mineral materials have been successfully commercialized.
In recent years, Professor Han has led 10 national research projects, including key projects under the 13th Five-Year National Key R&D Program, projects supported by the National Science and Technology Support Program, and key programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has also undertaken more than 40 industry-sponsored research projects. He has published over 300 academic papers, authored four monographs, obtained more than 20 authorized national invention patents, and compiled one Ministry of Education-approved textbook for mineral processing under the geological and mining disciplines.
