Dr. Jiayu Che received a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, with a research focus on structural seismic performance and earthquake-resilient structural systems. His doctoral research centered on precast self-centering rocking shear wall systems, with emphasis on seismic behavior, damage control, residual deformation reduction, and post-earthquake functional recovery. Dr. Che’s research combines experimental testing, theoretical analysis, and numerical simulation to investigate the mechanical behavior and seismic performance of structural systems. His work covers multiple research scales, including component-level tests of energy-dissipating devices, wall-level experimental studies, and structural-level numerical simulations. He is particularly interested in how self-centering mechanisms, energy-dissipating connections, and optimized structural configurations can improve the resilience, reparability, and practical applicability of precast concrete structures under earthquake actions. His research interests include structural seismic performance, reinforced concrete and precast concrete structures, self-centering rocking shear walls, energy-dissipating connection components, residual deformation control, and earthquake-resilient structural systems. In addition to research, Dr. Che is interested in teaching courses related to structural mechanics, reinforced concrete structures, seismic design of structures, structural testing, and precast building structures. He aims to integrate fundamental theories, experimental findings, numerical methods, and engineering applications into both research and teaching.
