Ma Baodong holds a PhD degree, serves as an associate professor and doctoral supervisor. He concurrently holds positions as a member of the Digital Energy Specialty Committee of the China National Committee of the International Society for Digital Earth, a member of the Digital Tropics and Subtropics Specialty Committee, and a member of the Mine Surveying Professional Committee of the China Surveying and Mapping Society. In 2015, he visited the University of South Florida in the United States for a year. His primary research interests include remote sensing of mining environments, hyperspectral remote sensing of vegetation, and theories and applications related to smart mines. He has led 8 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and other institutions, received 5 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research awards, including the First Prize of China Surveying and Mapping Science and Technology Progress Award, and published over 50 academic papers. He has edited 1 textbook for the 14th Five-Year Plan and 1 textbook selected as one of the top 100 textbooks by Northeastern University, and is responsible for a provincial-level first-class undergraduate course. He has been awarded the title of Excellent Class Advisor at Northeastern University three times, received a second prize in the National Surveying and Mapping Young Teachers' Lecture Competition, guided students to win 12 awards in the National College Students' Surveying and Mapping Skills Competition and 10 awards in the Liaoning Provincial College Students' Surveying and Mapping Skills Competition, and was recognized as an Excellent Instructor in the competition three times.
