Dr. Jun Zhang is an Associate Professor and doctoral advisor of the Department of Civil Engineering at Northeastern University. He is also a member of the University’s professor committee of Civil Engineering. He is a Visiting Researcher of the Highway Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport and an advising expert of the Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology. He is also a member of the Technical Committee of the National Conference on Pavement Materials Mechanics and Simulation and the Mechanics Group of the RIOH Track Full-Scale Ring Road Advising Committee at the Highway Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport and the International Society for Asphalt Pavements. He is an editorial board member of the ASCE’s Journal of Highway and Transportation Research and Development and has been a visiting scholar at CCEE., North Carolina State University. Dr. Jun Zhang mainly engages in research of the field of road engineering. In recent years, Dr. Zhang has led over twenty national and provincial-level research projects. These projects include projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Education Doctoral Fund, Ministry of Education Basic Research Fund, key technology projects of the Liaoning Provincial Transportation Industry, Liaoning Science and Technology Plan General Projects (originally Outstanding Talent Cultivation), open fund of key laboratories in the transportation industry, Liaoning Provincial Highway Research Plan, and China Railway Corporation Science and Technology Development Plan projects. Dr. Jun Zhang has published over 60 papers and has published three local standards in the transportation and construction industries as the first author or major author. As a key contributor, he has completed seven national-level industry association or provincial government scientific and technological evaluations. He has received six scientific research awards, including the Excellent Presentation Award at the World Transport Congress, the Excellent Paper Award at the National Young Academic Conference in the Field of Transportation, the Liaoning Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, the Innovation Achievement Award of the China Highway Construction Industry Association, and the Science and Technology Progress Award from the Municipal Government. Some of Dr. Zhang's research achievements are considered domestically leading or internationally advanced. In particular, his research on key technologies and equipment for warm-mix asphalt pavements has won four provincial and municipal science and technology awards and has been applied in seven regions and more than 30 routes in Liaoning Province and surrounding areas, and has been successfully included in the Ministry of Transport’s catalog of construction science and technology achievement promotion for nationwide dissemination.
