Yong Zhao Distinguished Research Fellow, PhD SupervisorNortheastern University

Research Interests: Mine rock mechanics, geotechnical monitoring and early warning of geological disasters.

Dr. Zhao has been selected for the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) Young Talent Support Project, the "Xingliao Talent Program" Young Top Talent of Liaoning Province, and the Outstanding Young Talent (Class B) of Northeastern University. He has presided over more than 10 vertical research projects, including the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Excellent Youth Science Foundation of Liaoning Province, the Key Science and Technology Project of the Ministry of Emergency Management of China, and sub-projects of the National Key R&D Program of China. He has also led over 20 enterprise-commissioned research projects.

He has published more than 90 academic papers, been granted or has pending applications for over 40 invention patents, participated in the compilation of 3 industry standards, and published 2 monographs. His research achievements have earned him more than 10 provincial and ministerial-level awards, including the Second Prize of Liaoning Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of Hebei Province Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering (CSRME), and the First Prize of Metallurgical Science and Technology Award. He has also received honors such as the Green Mine Youth Science and Technology Award and the First Prize of Shenyang Natural Science Academic Achievement Award. His research results have provided technical support for safe and efficient production and disaster prevention and early warning in numerous large-scale mines.

Admissions: Students with academic backgrounds in Mining Engineering, Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering and related fields are welcome to apply for Master's and PhD programs.
