Dr. Zhao-Dong Xu is a Tier-2 Professor and Doctoral Supervisor. He is the recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, a nationally recognized high-level talent, a recipient of the inaugural Xplorer Prize, a national leading talent, and an expert receiving the Special Government Allowance of the State Council. He also serves as a part-time researcher at the Qian Xuesen Laboratory of Space Technology. He previously worked for nearly four years as a researcher and senior visiting scholar at well-known universities in the United States, Japan, and South Korea. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Chinese Society for Vibration Engineering, Director of the Structural Dynamics Committee of the Chinese Society for Vibration Engineering, Deputy Director of the Engineering and Technology Committee of the National Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, Vice Chairman of the Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Reduction Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society, Deputy Director of the Impact and Protection Committee of the Chinese Society for Vibration Engineering, and Member of the Science and Technology Committee of the General Design Department of the China Academy of Space Technology. His major research interests include structural vibration control and safety monitoring, structural seismic resistance and multi-hazard smart disaster mitigation, and smart materials and structures. He has led projects that received numerous prestigious awards, including the Second Prize of the National Technological Invention Award, the First Prize of the Ministry of Education Technological Invention Award, the Gold Medal at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology First Prize, and the First Prize of the China Building Materials Technological Invention Award. He has presided over and completed several major national research programs, including the National High-Tech Research and Development Program (863 Program), Major Research Plans of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Key Projects of the National Key Research and Development Program, and Key Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published more than 300 SCI-indexed papers in leading journals, including journals under Nature and American Society of Civil Engineers, with nearly 200 papers published in Q1 journals. In addition, he has been invited by Elsevier and John Wiley & Sons to publish three English monographs, and has also published three Chinese monographs. He has contributed to the compilation of five national, industrial, or association standards and has been granted more than 100 invention patents.
