Li Gang, male, born in October 1969, received his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from Northeastern University in 1991, 1994, and 2002, respectively. Since 2009, he has served as Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in the Department of Safety Engineering at Northeastern University. He also serves as Deputy Head of the Comprehensive Group for Metallurgical and Trade Industries under the National Work Safety Expert Group, and is a Specially Appointed Safety Expert for Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong, and Jiangsu Provinces as well as Beijing Municipality.In 2005, he established the Fire & Explosion Prevention Laboratory at Northeastern University, and in 2025, he assumed the role of Deputy Director of the Dust Explosion Risk Monitoring and Control Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Emergency Management. For three decades, he has been engaged in research on industrial explosion theory and prevention technology. He has published over 50 papers, holds 10 patents, has formulated 10 national and industry standards, and published China's first dust explosibility database. He completed the project Key Technologies and Equipment for Explosion Prevention and Control of Flammable and Explosive Hazardous Substances, which received the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2019. He has provided technical consultation and services—including dust explosion characteristic testing, explosion risk assessment, and explosion-proof retrofit solutions—to over 500 domestic and international enterprises, and possesses extensive practical experience in the ignition and explosion mechanisms and on-site prevention and control of combustible gases and dusts.
