ZHU Xinran, male, Han ethnicity, born in May 1991 in Fuxin, Liaoning Province. He is an Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor with a Doctor of Engineering degree in Mineral Processing Engineering at the School of Resources and Civil Engineering, Northeastern University. He has long been engaged in research on the development and utilization of refractory mineral resources. His focuses on exploiting refractory ore resources using conventional mineral processing methods such as gravity concentration, magnetic separation, froth flotation and their combinations with extractive metallurgy. His work was primarily on the accurate control of phase transformation in the fluidized magnetization roasting of complex iron ore, which contains hematite, limonite, and siderite, combining the analysis techniques, such as X-ray diffraction, Mössbauer Spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometry. Recently, He is also interested in the extraction of vanadium, gold, and lithium from ores using pre-treatment roasting technology.

He has presided over projects including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, sub tasks of the National Key R&D Program, and sub tasks of the National Major Science and Technology Project for Deep Earth Exploration. He has published more than 20 SCI papers and received awards such as the Second Prize of Liaoning Provincial Natural Science Award. He serves as a Youth Editorial Board Member for journals including International Journal of Mining Science and Technology and Minerals.
