Jie Liu, female, PhD, professor of Mineral Engineering Processing, Northeastern University, Shenyang, P. R. China. I have been committed to the teaching and research of flotation theory and technology and the combined technology of beneficiation and metallurgy of refractory resources. As the principal investigator, I have presided over 27 scientific research projects, with a total scientific research fund of more than RMB 10 million, including 8 government-funded research projects such as general projects and youth projects funded by NSFC, geological survey projects funded by the Geological Survey Bureau, etc., and 19 business-funded projects,creating economic benefits of more than RMB100 million (€10 million). After the beneficiation and metallurgy projects of iron ore are applied in the plant, the economic benefits have increased significantly. For example, the research results of the project “The pilot-scale test of suspension magnetization roasting for block ore from JISCO” have fully supported for the industrial production line of suspension roasting for iron ore with the capacity of 1.65 million ton/a in JISCO, and The projects of " Study on Optimization of beneficiation improvement process in Donganshan sintering plant" and " Study on Optimization of short process of beneficiation in Anqian iron ore " have increased the comprehensive economic benefits by RMB 46.87 million (€6.51 million)and RMB 27.65 million (€3.84 million) for both of plants, respectively. I have made achievements in the research of fine particle flotation and the adsorption mechanism of flotation reagent on mineral surface. The research of fine cassiterite flotation has been conducted systematically, and a new cassiterite collector and associated gangue mineral depressant have been successfully invented. I have participated in the research and development of new oxidized mineral collectors such as phosphonic acid collectors, modified fatty acid collectors, new amine collectors and amphoteric collectors, etc. as well as depressant such as modified starch, hydroxycitric acid and carboxymethyl cellulose, etc., which have successfully applied to oxidized minerals flotation such as hematite, magnetite, quartz, spodumene, rutile, cassiterite, scheelite, wolframite, barite, etc.. 3 monographs and 1 translation as chief editor and relevant academic papers of more than 170 in domestic and foreign academic journals have been published. I have won 4 first & second prize of provincial and ministerial science and technology award, applied for more than 40 national invention patents and obtained 20 invention patents.
