The teaching and research focus primarily on steel-concrete composite structures, prestressing technology, and structural strengthening. The academic achievements include presiding over more than 30 research projects, receiving over 10 science and technology awards, publishing over 240 papers (more than 200 of which are indexed in SCI and EI), authoring 7 monographs and 4 textbooks, and being granted over 70 national invention and utility model patents. Major research contributions encompass the establishment of a calculation theory for interfacial slip in steel-concrete composite beams based on variational principles; the innovative development of prestressed steel-concrete composite structures; the creation of GFRP tube-encased steel-reinforced concrete structures; the proposal of a method that simulates steel beam corrosion through flange cutting and repairs concrete cracks via epoxy injection, combined with strengthening using (prestressed) CFRP sheets; the invention of a composite concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) pipe-roof structure; the refinement of structural theory for curved steel-concrete composite beams; the development and design of prefabricated steel-concrete composite structures; and exploratory research on steel-concrete composite structures for underground buildings.
