Xinyang Xu was born in Wuyi, Zhejiang Province in March 1967, and now is a professor and doctoral student tutor at Northeastern University. Prof. Xu is the director of Environmental Engineering Research Institute in the College of Resources and Civil Engineering of Northeastern University, the deputy director of personnel department of Northeastern University, the vice chairman of Shenyang′s Environmental Science Society, the national outstanding young university teacher of Henry Fok Education Foundation, the selected candidate of Liaoning BaiQianWan Talents Program in one hundred talented people level, the outstanding young backbone teacher of Liaoning′s colleges and universities, and the renowned teaching teacher in Northeastern University.
The main research directions of Prof. Xu include theories and technologies of wastewater treatment, solid waste resource and solid-liquid separation of fine material. The courses of “Fundamental of environmental engineering design”, “Environmental system analysis and environmental assessment”, and “Treatment and disposal of solid waste” are taught by Prof. Xu. In recent years, Prof. Xu obtained or participated in nearly 20 research subjects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Tenth Five-Year Key Program, the Doctoral Foundation of Ministry of Education, the Doctoral Start-up Foundation of Liaoning Province and several enterprise projects, of which the project of "Circular economy of gold mine and technology integration of eco-industrial systems" is the first class of Science and Technology Progress Award in Shandong province, and the project of "Technology integration and engineering demonstration of comprehensive wastewater treatment and reuse in Benxi iron and steel company" is the first class of Science and Technology Progress Award in Benxi city. Four textbooks including "Environmental protection and sustainable development", "Wastewater treatment engineering design", "Environmental assessment tutorial" and "Gold engineering design tutorial" were published by Prof. Xu, of which "Environmental assessment tutorial" was awarded by the second class of outstanding teaching materials of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Press. In addition, Prof. Xu also participated in the treatises editorial work of "Solid-liquid separation" and "Introduction to environmental science and engineering". Furthermore, nearly 100 papers were published in the domestic and international journals and the series of international conferences.
