
Environmental Engineering inNortheastern University was founded in 1993, obtained the master’s degree authorization in 2002, and was approved for the national characteristic specialty construction site by the Ministry of Education in 2011. The total member of academic faculty is 17, including 4professorsand 6associate professors.
The main research directions are the principles and technologies of watershed water pollution control, the theory and technology of green remediation of polluted environments, the theory and technology of safe disposal of solid waste resources, the ecological processes and effects of pollution, environmental microbial technology and applications, and the theory and technology of atmospheric pollution control. In the past three years, we have undertaken 15 vertical projects such as national key research and development plan projects and sub projects, national major science and technology projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, and more than 40 horizontal commissioned projects for enterprises and institutions. We have won 5 provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological progress awards, authorized 17 invention patents, published 7 teaching materials and monographs, and published more than 130 academic papers, including 60SCI papers. We have established close exchange and cooperation relationships with universities and research institutions in countries such as the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Japan, and strengthened the depth of cooperation through scholar visits, academic conferences, and other means. The Environmental Engineering discipline of Northeastern University has always been based on major environmental issues such as watersheds, cities, and mining areas, inheriting and carrying forward the academic tradition and characteristics of solid-liquid separation and microbial technology, aiming at the national and local environmental protection technology needs, continuously practicing the national strategy of ecological civilization and the top-level design of green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver. In the fields of sewage ecological treatment, deep denitrification of wastewater, remediation of polluted soil, and research and development of environmental materials, it has gradually formed a complete set of theories, methods, and technologies, and has become a training and output base for high-level talents in ecological environment protection in Northeast China.
